Mayfair

Mayfair is one of the most exclusive areas of London with lots of luxurious hotels and shops. You will pass Bond Street, one of the most expensive shopping streets in the world and other unexpected tales of secret agents and their lives.

It took a matter of decades to covert a 100 acre estate of muddy fields to an area of London that boasted its finest mansions. The only survivor is Burlington House now the home to the Royal Academy. Mayfair takes its name from a fair that ran for the first two weeks in May. Eventually the raucousness became too much for the local residents and the area was converted into Shepherds Market that bears its creators name. Strangely many of Mayfair’s more high profile residents have in one way or another fallen from grace and walk through Mayfair is very much a story of how the mighty have fallen.
